Paulywood’s 45 #22: Monday

This is one of those songs I wrote many years ago. I think it was like ’81 or ’82. So almost 30 years ago. I took most of the lyrics, added a chorus, and totally re-wrote the music. It was now a brand new song but with old lyrics reborn.

Spring is well into swing, and we have lots of flowers on the patio again this year. A small but proud vegetable garden is hopefully going to produce tomatoes, corn, peppers, onions and lettuce. I like to sit outside and just look at the flowers and garden. It’s so peaceful and soothing. If you have a hard time with Mondays or the first day of your work week, try finding a small garden, breath and everything will be fine.

Monday

When I get up on Mondays
And I feel my face
I can feel it changing
Right before my hands
I don’t need a mirror
I can tell what it’s gonna look like
A destructive monster
Until I board the train

Will you tell me some good news
Please tell me some more
I don’t want to hear bad news
I get it all from the TV and the radio

Why does every day feel like a Monday
There’s no cure to take these blues away
Why can’t every day feel like a Sunday
I keep all my yesterdays

Just give me some coffee
That should calm me down
As I make my way out
For the office grind
I can barely make it
Standing in the rain
In this dog eat dog world
I recharge my brain

Will you tell me some good news
Please tell me some more
I don’t want to hear bad news
I get it all from the TV and the radio

Why does every day feel like a Monday
There’s no cure to take these blues away
Why can’t every day feel like a Sunday
I keep all my yesterdays
